Validity of visas and period of staying in Thailand
It should be noted that the validity of visa means the period within which the traveller may present the visa for entry, not the duration of staying in Thailand.
Transit visa
    This type of visa is for transit traveller only. The procedure is the same as for a tourist visa, except that the duration of stay is 30 days. Holders of this type of visa may not be gainfully employed in Thailand.
Tourist visa
    Validity of visa
  • The single and double entries visa must be utilized within 90 days from the date of issuance.
    Period of stay in Thailand
  • To obtain a tourist visa the procedure is the same as for a non-immigrant visa, except that upon entry a stay of 60 days will be granted. For passport holders of most countries, this visa can be extended 1 time only with maximum of 30 days at an Immigration Bureau.. Holders of this type of visa may not be gainfully employed in Thailand.
Non-immigrant visas

  • The single entry visa must be utilized within 90 days from the date of issuance.
  • Multiple entries must be used within 1 year from the date of issuance.
    Period of stay in Thailand
  • When entering Thailand within the given time frame, the immigration officer at the entry point will grant a 90-day stay. This is the initial period of stay for this type of visa. For an extension of stay beyond 90 days, application must be made at an Immigration Bureau.
